Will Karthak be able to get to Cory in the middle of this powerful whirlwind? And even if he does, will it make any difference?

Are we sure Karthak is not the Angel in this scenario? Even when in danger from flying debris and bodies his only concern is for Cory, and he’s the first perceptive enough to recognize Cory is in pain when losing control (unless I’m misremembering the previous incident?).
