That look in Panel 2 totally gets me. Teen Spooky has had to do so many things alone

Please note: These are work-in-progress colors. Vero should get me the final colors soon.

So!

So! Our team has a plan! Or, at least, the beginnings of one! How do you think Ambrosia will take what Amanda tells her? What kind of magical weapons will Spooky create? And this is the end of this scene — what do you think we’ll see next?

Tune in this Wednesday to find out! Hope to see you there! 😀

  1. Avatar for Klaus Klaus says:

Maybe Mitch could tell him about that magic rope cutting knife.
(I believe that we have a case of the purple elephant gun problem here.)

  2. Panel 3, yep, Love it! Common sense? Hah! How many super powered teenagers do they know at the moment? I think there will be a plan, I think it will not come out as expected!

  3. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

Given that future!Spooky is not known to use weapons, I suspect whatever he comes up with will not be very effective.

At this point, the only reason why I think Cassidy will be OK is that Spooky remembers what happened to her.

  4. I’m not familiar with that problem, Klaus. Do tell.

“No plan survives contact with the enemy.”

How do you mean? How would that work?

  5. Hm. I see one problem with this plan: what’s to keep Ambrosia from contacting Shades or heading off to the amusement park on her own? And won’t a non-selective hidey spell hide Ambrosia from Spooky too if she goes AWOL? I really don’t see her doing what she’s told, Cassidy or no Cassidy. All she has to say is “I need a cigarette”, step outside and skedaddle.

I imagine the “weapons” that Spooky will whip up will mostly be some of those potion bottles we’ve already seen him use. But he better make sure at least one weapon specifically targets that noose! And I think he should also expect that cannon to show up again too.

  6. Avatar for Klaus Klaus says:

Is a “magic rope cutting knife” a magic knife for cutting ropes, or is it a knife for cutting magic ropes? This ambiguity in the English language has a name: the purple elephant gun problem.

  7. Avatar for Nate Nate says:

Well, it seems clear to me that this entire adventure happens within that blank period before Spooky wakes up on a bus.

But I vaguely recall mention (maybe in one of the short stories) of why Cassidy isn’t around anymore. Since people remember THAT it can’t have happened during the blank spot.

    Or did I forget something?

  8. Somehow I don’t trust that Spooky will go to sleep as soon as his head hits the pillow. I’m guessing he IS going to try and spring a midnight assault on his own.

  9. Sounds like a plan. Good talk, guys.
    Why do I feel like nobody will get much sleep though… :{

  10. I think preventing that is part of what Spooky’s means when he says that “Cassidy can handle her.”

That, on the other hand, would be a definite risk. And considering what we know about her, if she really is in league with Shades, she could very well pull that cigarette escape. But Spooky doesn’t think she is on Team Shades. And Spooky is often right about such things…

Interesting. Usually I see that being addressed with hyphens. The purple elephant-gun vs. the purple-elephant gun. But, while elephant-gun feels like a valid choice to me, purple-elephant feels just wrong. Yep, that ambiguity can definitely be tricky.

The last thing Adult Spooky remembered was falling asleep on a bus to Oregon. He “woke up” a couple weeks later in his office.

Cassidy was definitely still around when Spooky found himself back in his office. What happened to her did happen later.

That would definitely be within character, huh?

Too much excitement over the coming battle?
